Basic Land & Propery Units (BLPUs)
UKMap BLPUs are being created for both properties and roads.
The road BLPUs aggregate all the polygons that make up a road, including parking bays, speed humps and traffic islands. Each street is identified by a unique number together with the street name. The UKMap production team is adding all the pavement polygons to the streets BLPUs to complete the process.
Property BLPUs have been created for all residential properties and we are currently working on defining non-residential sites. The big advantage of the property BLPU is that it also creates a Building BLPU. Where a building is made up of several polygons, due to height differences, it is now possible to aggregate these to represent a single building. Each property BLPU has a unique number linked to the UKMap address data.
