UKLand

UKLand is a spatial database created and maintained by Geomni UK, showing the use of land across the whole of the United Kingdom. It is designed to help users gain an understanding of large areas or regions, or identify specific areas, and offers a comprehensive and consistent view of the use of the land across the UK.

The database, comprising 27 classes, is used for regional analysis and planning by Government, planners, developers, and utilities to improve decision making. A version of the database is also used to map “clutter” – with additional classes including leafy suburbs and bridges – for Telecom wireless network operators.

Coverage

UKLand is available for the whole of Great Britain and Northern Ireland together with border zones of Republic of Ireland and parts of Northern France and Belgium.

Content

UKLand includes a basic, high-level land-use classification (man-made, natural, agricultural or water) and a more detailed arrangement of 27 classes including natural area, a range of agricultural types, woodland and built environment.

Integration

The database is designed to integrate with other mapping datasets and can be linked to other geographies (i.e. administrative areas, postcodes) if required.
